About the Teachers
Our teachers are passionate about music and the development of children. They create a fun, informal, social setting that spurs engagement and supports each child’s musical development.
Emily Arwen Mott
Emily is a multitalented certified Music Together® teacher. For many years, she has taught piano and early music to children from age 5 to adults. She is also a dancer and a massage therapist. Emily grew up with her twin sister, Alison, singing together and surrounded by music, as their parents were professional violinists and their grandmother was an opera singer and teacher. This was a natural model for spreading The Joy of Family Music®. She’s warm, fun, and skilled, and you’ll love her classes!
Alison Mott
Alison, a graduate of Bryn Mawr College, studied anthropology and wrote her thesis on the socialization of children in the preschool context. As a classically trained musician, she has sung with multiple award-winning choirs and a cappella groups. She has also been a member of a dance company and has been trained in sign language. She has unique experience working in a variety of educational settings for a broad spectrum of age groups. At both the Perkins School for the Blind in Watertown, MA, and HMS School for Children with Cerebral Palsy in Philadelphia, PA, Alison has used music as a tool for instruction, motivation, and therapy. She loves Vermont, takes as many dance classes as she can, sings many styles of music with her friends, reads as much as she can, hikes local mountains, cross-country skis, and is always up for a new adventure. Alison previously directed this Music Together® center for many years and has taught for more than a decade.
